• The Future Is Pretty is a nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing girls and young women of color, ages 15–25, as they evolve, blossom, and prosper. We support young women with skills, resources, and guidance that nurture confidence and provide access to equitable opportunities they need to thrive in college, career, and womanhood.

    Inspired by the 2020 book The Future Is Pretty by founder Zara “Love” Durham, our work brings the book’s vision to life. What began as a college and career guide has grown into a movement centered on the holistic well-being of young women.

    Our programming is rooted in holistic health, beauty education, and wellness education, ensuring the young women we serve are supported from the inside out. Through partnerships with beauty and wellness brands and service providers, we help students access essential resources—hygiene products, hair care products, makeup products, and more—recognizing that many face real barriers to these foundational needs. With these essential resources, we also provide beauty education, teaching students how to use and apply them effectively, helping them build confidence and practical skills for everyday life.

    Once those needs are met, we provide professional and career development, college and career preparation, workshops, and transformative tools that help young women navigate new opportunities with clarity and confidence.

    Our mission is simple:
    To help young women evolve, blossom, and prosper—with the access, equity, and support they deserve—because their future is pretty.

  • We nurture girls and young women of color by equipping them with knowledge and tools and providing equitable access to the resources and support they need to flourish in school, career, and life.

  • Our vision is to help girls and young women to flourish academically, personally, and professionally through programs rooted in holistic development and guided by the four dimensions of wellness, which are mental, physical, emotional, and purpose.

  • Our approach to this work follows an intentional path—first we prioritize participants' health and wellness, which encourages the development of self-care habits, often including practices related to inner and outer beauty, leading to the confidence and self-assurance needed to take up space and thrive in college, career, womanhood, and to experience overall joy, creating a foundation of interconnected growth for girls and young women to flourish in every aspect of life.
